Dr Schell discusses his latest efforts.
I will be journeying to Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia, in mid-May 2009 to celebrate my 60th year out with my classmates. I understand that there will be only a handful of us attending primarily because we have made it to the farreaches of longevity and can still walk. Some of us will have walking canes, others will have walkers, a crutch or two, and a couple will be in wheelchairs. There will be 3 days of this nonsense culminating in our marching to the quadrangle with the newest alumni -- the Year 2009 graduates.
We will also participate in parties with those 1949 graduates from our sister schoool - Spelman College. No matter the years, those dolls are still beautiful while dancing the night away at the Ritz Carlton.
While in Atlanta, I will be interviewed by the Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters covering in essence my life and accomplishments over a lifetime. We will journey to West Point, Georgia, my birthplace to visit and recall actions that were notewothy in my life and development. I may even have the opportunity to participate in a joint interview the last of the living "young ladies, 80 and 87 years young" who are characters in my book We Call Our Daddy "Mister.
These few days will be capped off by my meeting my bride of 55 years at UC Berkeley for our eldest grandaughter's commencement ceremony.. |
